A consumer connected-home-security IoT platform

AWS-validated reference — full details available to AWS Partner Validation or on request. (Customer name held on file with VeUP.)

the customer, operating as Kangaroo, runs a consumer connected-home-security IoT platform on AWS — sensors, cameras, and connected hardware following the IoT Sense/Analyze/Act pattern with cloud monitoring and alerting — across two AWS accounts under VeUP management.

The challenge

the customer (Kangaroo, heykangaroo.com) provides consumer connected-home-security devices with a cloud platform for monitoring and alerting. A consumer security product demands reliable event delivery and strict consumer-data privacy, operated across two AWS accounts as the install base grows.

The solution

A connected-device platform on AWS following the IoT Sense/Analyze/Act pattern — home-security devices sense property and environment state and events, the cloud analyzes them, and the platform acts via timely monitoring and alerting — operated under VeUP management across two AWS accounts with AWS IAM, Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS CloudTrail. Detailed service-inventory and protocol specifics are held in the customer tenant and provided via the standard customer-reference channel.

Architecture

KPIResult
Production outcomesA connected home-security IoT product operating in production with an active install base across two AWS accounts under VeUP management, following the IoT Sense/Analyze/Act pattern with cloud monitoring and alerting. Quantified KPIs and detailed architecture are customer-tenant artifacts provided via the standard customer-reference channel.

Lessons & continuationFor a consumer security IoT product, event-delivery reliability and consumer-data privacy are first-order controls; the Sense/Analyze/Act loop must keep alerting timely as the install base scales.
